ASAM Board, and new Technical Steering Committee election
Monday, February 27, 2012

ASAM is short for Association for Standardization of Automation and Measuring Systems. The association provides standards for data models, interfaces and syntax specifications for a variety of applications, such as testing, evaluation and simulation.

The ASAM annual general membership meeting will take place on March 27, 2012 at Dresden, Germany. A new Technical Steering Committee (TSC) will be elected. Members of this body will decide on projects to be started, release of standards...

Lucas MARTI joins ORME as a research engineer
Wednesday, February 1, 2012

Lucas Marti joins ORME to start a PhD, in close collaboration with the Robotics Group of the LAAS-CNRS in Toulouse. This 3 years long research project aims at estimating the position and attitude of humans using a multi-ocular camera system.

Various application domains are aimed for, with a common need of precise measurements of the position and the attitude of persons. For instance, the automatic detection of falls, or intrusions in hazardous sites, ergonomics and actimetrics, dummy trajectography for crash-tests analysis, patient repositioning  for radiotherapy, tool detection and positioning…

Thales Alenia Space trusts TrackReport to analyze vacuum and thermal tests
Tuesday, January 10, 2012

The Vacuum and Thermal test department of Thales Alenia Space in Toulouse (France) chooses TrackReport to analyze their test data and to generate test reports. For this application, a new data reader for TrackReport has been developed, to fit with the Thales Alenia Space specific data format for these tests. TrackReport now enables the complete automatic report generation as soon as the test is done.

Best wishes for 2012! A 2011 retrospective and some 2012 projects...

2011 has been full of events for ORME...

With research projects first, launching two innovative European research projects: Moorinspect -a future robot, aimed at the automatic inspection of mooring chains in deep-water offshore facilities, and PlastronicsSpecs -development of an automated digital radiography system for the inspection of plastic electronics. These research projects, handled by an European consortium of research laboratories, SME and final customers, will be spread over the two next years. ORME will actively participate in signal and image processing innovative algorithms development.

A lot of development activities too, featuring some great evolutions on the two products TrackReport and TrackImage.  TrackReport 3.4 has been released, with a complete make-over of the data management and presentation, and some major evolutions for developing specific applications for signal analysis and visualization using TrackReport... Besides, with help of OSEO and DGA, the TrackImage 3.0 project has been launched, which will lead to the future version of TrackImage, with new methods for 3D trajectography and better performances... Last, many technical expertise and specific developments for our customers, in acoustics for aeronautics, in automotive crash-tests, cosmetics analysis...

These big projects have been achieved thanks to the arrival of two new colleagues in the ORME team, welcome Florian and Charles !

2012 promises to be even higher in projects and innovations! Exciting technical projects for our customers, research and development projects, with the startup of a new PhD  in image processing in close collaboration with the LAAS in Toulouse. And also strategic actions to export our software products to India and China: two new technical and sales engineers are to be recruited in the beginning of 2012, and will be based in Bangalore and Shanghai. They will support our customers and partners there, as well as enhance our commercial prospection!

All ORME team wishes you all the best for 2012. Let it be full of projects, ideas, and innovations!

PlastronicsSpec: research project kick-off
Wednesday, November 2, 2011

ORME is strongly involved in the PlastronicsSpec research project, funded by the European Union’s Seventh Framework Program. This two year project aims at developing a real time digital X-ray radiography system, for the inspection of plastic electronics. In particular, ORME will actively participate in the design of image processing techniques to detect and measure defects.

The 2nd of November 2011 is the Kick-off day of this research project, involving a consortium of seven European partners, research institutes, SME and end-users.
